Still Excited

Wow. What a great couple of weeks.

We have visited with 2 of the 3 families and shared plans and ideas about what is happening and what still remains to happen. We will get to visit with the rest of the family this weekend on our first boat trip of the year! It's double excitement as we get to show them the first pictures of their new grand kids as well as take "Melton Away Too" out on her maiden voyage of `08.

Betsy is feeling good overall. She's been tired but that is expected. She's still learning how much she can eat at one time, and enjoying all the snacks in between meals. We visited with her parents over the weekend and took bets on how many times we would have to stop for bathroom breaks in the 5 1/2 hour trip. Our friend Chad picked 6 and his wife Susan took the over. I took the under and won! Betsy is attributing it to the fact that I was driving and had control of when we would actually stop and that is the reason I won. Don't worry, I didn't make her go any longer than she had to, but a bet is a bet.

We've noticed the dogs (Lucy & Ebby) have started to get a little curious as to what is going on. They got to travel along with us to Betsy's parents house and are starting to wonder what all the excitement is about. Ebby which is older and has been through this situation before with her previous family, has been extra lovey with Betsy and is following her around everywhere. Lucy has taken a more cautious approach. She has been very tentative when Betsy calls her to visit in the Big Red Chair and is taking gentle steps when finding that right spot when she lays down with Betsy.

We've had an extra fun time sharing the news with all of the kid neighbors as well as our niece Megan Bucko.

Megan is very excited about having 2 new cousins and can't wait to see them. Megan just celebrated her 4th birthday and will be a great older cousin. She was a little confused about the ultrasound picture but told us all the things that she plans on doing with them. She is a very smart girl and I'm sure she will have a great plan by the time they get here.

Our neighbors Olivia (7) and Emma (4) are also excited. Their parents just put in a new pool over the winter and the girls said they will teach the kids how to swim (in a couple more years).

Betsy has started cutting coupons for diapers, wipes, etc., since we will be using twice as much as normal. She also ordered the new furniture, (2 cribs, 3 drawer changing table, 4 drawer dresser) and we will start working on their room some time this summer. Our goal is to have as much done by the end of the summer so if Betsy has to be off her feet later this year, she won't have to worry about getting anything done and can relax as much as possible.

We hope all is well with you and your family and we'll post some more info soon!

What a feeling....

It's been a great several weeks in our lives. We first found out that we were having a baby in early March and the excitement was overwhelming. We began to plan out the next year of our lives as well as dream about the years to come. It was a feeling that I don't think we had ever experienced and we're so glad that we had each other to share it with.

We had our first Dr.'s appointment yesterday and it was also very exciting. We learned even more than what we had already researched and got to spend good time with the Dr. She is very young and energetic and seems genuinely excited for us. We talked about all the steps that we will have to go through and all the changes that will take place. That's when it really sank in for us. Betsy and I both got a little misty eyed and the Dr. smiled and reaffirmed that everything looks great.

Because it was late in the day, the phlebotomist and the sonographer were both gone from the Dr.'s office. The Dr. could sense our eagerness to see the baby and went ahead and ordered an ultrasound through the main hospital. We left the Dr.'s office (almost sprinting) and signed in at the main hospital. After the blood was drawn the sonographer took us into the room to do the ultrasound. She put the "jelly on the belly" and began to give us our first look at our new pride and joy.

To say that we were shocked after first seeing our new one would be a huge understatement. We were both lost for words and statements and even facial expressions. We found out that there's 2 babies and not just one. I told Betsy it was the same feeling as when she told me that I was going to be a father and she said that it was the same feeling for her after she took 3 pregnancy tests. What an even more exciting time for us as well as all of the family and friends.

We had a great time last night breaking the news to family and friends. Most of the reactions were the same, happy that we were having a baby and shocked that we were having twins. We are so excited about this time in our lives and can't wait to share everything with family and friends.

The original projected due date for one baby was December 10th. Now that it's twins, the due date is "out the window" and could be anywhere in the month of November.

Bets is feeling fine, a little nauseous and tired, but so excited about everything that's happening.

We'll update this info as much as we can with new information and what's going on.

Talk to you soon,
