Keep on keepin on...

Betsy had the latest and greatest Dr's appointment and Max and Molly are doing awesome. The "belly" has gotten bigger and they have become very active, stretching, kicking, and playing the drums. The appointment was at 25 weeks and 4 days and everything is exactly as the Dr. expected.

Max measures at 26 weeks, weighs 2 lbs, and his heart beat was 158 bpm.
Molly measures a little less at 25 weeks and 1 day, weighs 1 lb 13 oz, and had a heart beat of 150 bpm.
The sonographer had a hard time measuring Max because of his "wiggle worm" abilities. Molly was very passive and very cooperative, until it was time to look at Max. She slipped into the picture a couple of times and even gave Max a strong push at one point.
We'll be taking Melton Away on her final voyage of the year this weekend and plan on anchoring out in the river at least one night. It's been a great summer and we can't wait for the best fall of our lives.

Hope all is well with you and your family,

Just another day in paradise

What a great way to begin winding down our summer. Betsy and I recently spent the weekend on Barkley Lake in Kentucky with some friends from our marina.
They have been traveling in their boats on the Ohio and Cumberland Rivers, as well as both lakes in Kentucky. They invited us to come spend the weekend with them before they head back to Evansville later this week.
We caught up with them at the Eddy Creek Marina on Barkley Lake Friday evening. We spent the night at the marina and shoved off Saturday morning headed out to an area in the lake called Davenport Bay. The ride was about 15 miles through the lake and went past several other marinas. To say it was absolutely beautiful would be a huge understatement. When we arrived in the bay, there were only a couple other boats anchored out. We did absolutely to nothing the rest of the weekend and it was fantastic. Betsy and the ladies floated while the guys and I talked about life and how boats float. (duh!) It was the mini vacation that both of us needed.
We believe Max and Molly enjoy being on the water because they get very active when we're on the boat. Betsy believes that one of them is going to be a drummer and the other a kicker of some sort. They were very active all weekend and it's exciting that they are doing so well.
Hope you're doing well and we'll post again soon!

The Melton Castle

We spent this past weekend updating a wing of the Melton Castle in preparation for the princess and prince. We had two spare bedrooms, one serving as the guest bedroom and the other as Betsy’s office. In the beginning when we were only expecting one, we planned on turning the office into the nursery. When we found out there were going to be two new additions to the family, our plans changed and we decided the guest bedroom would need to be the nursery because it was bigger than the office.

We spent some time earlier in the week moving the bedroom furniture into the office and Betsy directed the placement for the proper feng shui. Okay, she directed me to put the furniture in a way so it didn’t look like someone just dropped it off. We also rearranged her office furniture to make it easier for her to work and be more accessible to the hallway and the rest of the house after the princess and prince move in. Then the real help arrived. My stepmother Mary volunteered to paint the room for us since it was the last thing on earth that I wanted to do. Betsy and I had picked out a color that we both liked and she and Mary spent most of the morning trying a couple others to see exactly what we were thinking about. The original color that we decided on turned out to be too light so it took a little time, but they finally found what we had pictured in our minds.

Dad and I began putting the furniture together and laughed most of the time. We came to the conclusion that the person(s) that created the directions are somewhere laughing at all the people trying to follow them. We finally completed the four drawer dresser, three drawer changer, and both cribs (identical) which we put together different both times. We moved all the furniture in the room and tried it out in different arrangements. Don’t worry, the ladies helped us. A few more things to add and then the room should be ready for Princess Molly and Prince Max. We’re both extremely glad we have this part done and got to spend time with family while doing it.

Hope all is well with you and your family,
