Snow Days...2009

It's been an interesting past 24 hours. We've had rain, sleet, ice, and snow, with a total accumulation of about 12 inches. The snow is beautiful, and the sleet and ice are traitorous.

Lots of homes around us are without power because of all of the ice, and several families have had to find refuge at family members homes as well as shelters in the Evansville area.

We are very lucky that we still have power, as our luck with thunderstorms and wind storms isn't very good. We plowed the driveway, shoveled the sidewalk, and even managed a few cold ones at our local tavern down the road.
Max and Molly did what they do when there's snow.......sleep. Even though Mommy and Daddy had a snow day, they still got up at 5 a.m. and wanted to see the world.

Ebby and Lucy did what labs do when there's snow, sleep in the chair until it's time to go out, and then track through all the beautiful snow in everyones yards.

We saved most of our outdoor plants by breaking the ice off, but there are a few that we have questions about. The ice seemed to pile up and not quit, bending most of the branches down to the ground.

It will be warm soon, and the snow will be gone. We hope that you and your families are staying warm and happy through the Storm of 2009.

Splish splash I was takin' a bath...

What goes in, must come out, and sometimes it leaves an odor.

Both Max and Molly enjoy to get baths and love to have the water rushing over them as we wash them off.

Max in particular, loves to make faces while we wash him, and is always smirking when we dry him off. It's like he's got a present waiting for us as soon as we're done. Funny kid.

Papa Mike and Grammy Carolyn came to visit us this weekend and got to see how much bigger they've gotten. Both kids are sleeping a lot more at night, and Max' reflux seems to be getting better as well.

Betsy has returned to work and Max and Molly have been going to the babysitter's house down the road. Marilyn says that they do really well and she is very glad that she's getting to watch them. Her house is a little more than a mile from ours and it's very nice to have her so close.

We had a frozen drain pipe this past week and the clothes washer flooded the laundry room, one bathroom, the kitchen, and part of the family room. It was the coldest it's ever been since we've been in the house (-32°F with windchill) and this is the only problem that we've had before, so we figure we're still better than the odds. (Knock knock knock) It appears that we'll have some wood to replace, possibly some linoleum, as well as a little drywall. It's been a quiet winter so far, so maybe this will occupy our time until boating season.

Hope all is well with you and your family,

Happy New Year!

We hope everyone had a great and happy holiday season! We've had a great year so far, even though sleep seems to be limited and stress a little higher.

Max and Molly are growing by leaps and bounds. Both weigh over 10 lbs a piece and are cooing and showing emotions at everything they see. Lucy and Ebby pay a lot of attention to them when they're in their boppy seats, and we're sure all four of them have lots of questions about each other.
Max has been having problems with acid reflux again. We're trying lots of different concoctions to help him feel more comfortable, but so far he's still not happy. We understand that it takes time to find what works for him, we just have to continue to be patient and help him figure it out.
Molly is happy and content. She eats when she's hungry, sleeps when she's tired, and generally doesn't fuss at too much. We're both sure that this will change as she gets older.

Hope all is well with you and your family,
